PRAYER FOR THE UNREACHED
This month of January we will be praying for the Bajuni people group. They mainly live in Lamu Island, just
north of the Tana River while others can also be found in Tanzania and the Bajuni Islands of Somalia. They
speak a language called Tikku. They total about 100,000 people according to the Joshua project.
The major religion among them is Islam at 94.69% with Christians being about 0.1-2%. They are shafite
muslims and practice a strict form of Islam.
The Bajuni are well known and there have been several mission agencies who have focused on them.
However, there are not many Christians among them especially those who are outside the country’s borders.
Because they understand Swahili, the Swahili Bible had been a great aid for missionary efforts.
Please take time to pray for them that the Lord will call people in improving their living conditions by being
tent makers. Additionally, and most importantly that God will raise Christians who will continue to pray that
Jesus Christ is continually revealed to them and that the work that has already begun will be completed. We
also pray that we help in efforts of making Christ-centered discipleship tools to complement the efforts
already in place by missionaries.
